The Cross unit, 2024

Conceived from a practical need for additional bedroom storage, this mobile unit is designed to nest seamlessly between the room’s two facing mirrors, serving the morning ritual of getting ready. The upper surface functions as a catch-all for emptied pockets and cherished objects, while the lower tiers accommodate books- in-progress, incense, skincare products, and other elements of the morning and evening routines.

A carved cross motif on the side panel references church pews, imbuing the piece with a quiet spiritual charge. In doing so, it elevates the most ordinary gestures - undressing, preparing for sleep - into sacred acts of self-care. The warm, oil-stained finish evokes the soft orange patina of mid-century furniture, lending the object a sense of timelessness and familiarity within its contemporary setting.
