Stackable Stools, 2025

This modular stool system is designed to function flexibly within a dynamic space, transforming between a stool, table, and coffee table when spread out, and a compact storage tower when stacked together. The supporting wooden pieces, nestled between the legs, provide structural integrity while allowing for diverse configurations.

The perforated cross design, referencing the aesthetic of old iron gates, serves both a functional and symbolic role: it enables easy handling of the stools and imbues the piece with a subtle, spiritual aura. The cross-shaped top encourages a wider stance while sitting. By forcing users to spread their legs, the piece creates a space in the centre for additional storage, while also subtly confronting the cultural act of manspreading, drawing attention to how our body language shapes social interaction. This functional gesture transcends simple seating, prompting awareness through everyday use.
